Obligations
Personal Commitment
·
The core principles of the order are
Chivalry, honour, integrity, humility, courtesy, wisdom &
charity. For Templar members, the Order is a way of life
according to these principles, freely chosen but
nonetheless binding on their oath and honour.
·
There is an obligation that members participate in the Order’s
activities, particularly in events and meetings organised by the
Order.*
·
Members contribute financially, as best their personal means allow, to
furthering the work of the Order.
* Associates are encouraged to
participate at Order activities, events and meetings which are open to
all grades. Cadets are entitled to attend Order public events provided
they have a responsible adult accompany them.
The Constitutional Allegiance Fee
Costing and estimates are always the essential key
in the planning of the projects and operations within The Grand
Commandery of Knights Templar.
The closest consideration has been applied in
establishing a pragmatic basis of "Allegiance Fees" which are the only
direct revenues received by this Order, and used for the overall
support and development of The Order. This financial obligation is
enshrined in the Constitution, and is mandatory throughout Membership
and without exception. Indeed, the Allegiance Fee, which is a
thumbprint of tangible support and genuine sincerity by the Member in
question, is the only Constitutionally authorised financial
requirement of Membership.
For standard members, allegiance fees are due on
acceptance of application and can be paid annually or monthly. Please
see schedule below for more information. There is also a
non-refundable application fee of £15, payable on full application, to
cover administration costs.
Associates/Friends of the Order pay a set
allegiance fee on application for one year's membership and then
annually thereafter until cancellation or upgrade to a higher level of
membership.
When a member upgrades to a higher level of
membership, a payment of the new allegiance fee is calculated (e.g. an
Associate member who upgrades to standard membership will need to
either pay the sum of £105 (the difference between £120 & £15) or £12
pm from upgrade)

The Honour Code System
Inherent throughout The Order is the principle of
"Honour for Honours Sake". It is unthinkable that this Order should
ever be required to 'press' a Member for the payment of their
Allegiance Fee, when the Member's honour, as bestowed upon them by The
Order, is in recognition of their innate and recognised nobility of
character, and the trust, confidence and respect which is naturally
reposed in them.
